When a video of Ayumi’s manager abusing her is posted online, Aiko is horrified to see her fake username praising the manager’s actions as a way of defending her idol. This scene is a stark reminder of the dangers of social media, and how easy it is for others to take control of our online personas and manipulate them for their own purposes.
Another key element of this episode is the relationship between Aiko and Ayumi. Aiko finds herself in awe of Ayumi’s talent and charisma, but also sees her as a kindred spirit – someone who understands the pressures and challenges of being an idol in a way that others can’t. This bond is put to the test when Aiko discovers the abuse video and confronts Ayumi about it, putting their friendship in jeopardy.
But perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this episode is the introduction of a new character: a mysterious girl named Yui who seems to have a deep knowledge of the idol industry and its secrets. We see her talking to Ayumi’s manager in a mysterious underground room, and later she approaches Aiko in a park, urging her to be careful and warning her of the dangers that lie ahead.
Yui’s motivations and backstory are still shrouded in mystery, but her presence hints at a larger conspiracy at play – one that involves not only the management of individual idols, but the industry as a whole. As the series progresses, we can expect to see more clues and revelations about this shadowy underworld, and how it affects the lives of those caught up in it.
Overall, the second episode of “Oshi no Ko” is a compelling continuation of the story, filled with intrigue and conflict. It deepens our understanding of the characters and their motivations, while also hinting at larger themes and questions about power, identity, and the cult of celebrity.
